Thank you for shopping with J.A. Williams. Every order is prepared with care, and we want you to be delighted with your purchase. This Returns & Refunds Policy explains your rights and the circumstances in which refunds, replacements or exchanges may be available.

By placing an order through this website, you agree to the terms of this policy.

Physical Products

Physical products include, but are not limited to:

  • Signed books
  • Special editions
  • Merchandise
  • Book boxes
  • Art prints
  • Bookplates
  • Other physical goods sold through this website

Damaged, Faulty or Incorrect Orders

If your order arrives damaged, defective or you receive an incorrect item, please contact us within 14 days of delivery.

Please include:

  • Your order number;
  • Photographs showing the item and any packaging damage; and
  • A brief description of the issue.

We reserve the right to request photographs or other reasonable evidence of any reported damage or defect before approving a replacement or refund. Where appropriate, we may also request that the item be returned for inspection.

Where a claim is accepted, we may offer, at our discretion:

  • A replacement;
  • An exchange;
  • A partial refund; or
  • A full refund.

Change of Mind

If you change your mind, you may return eligible physical products within 14 days of receiving your order, provided that:

  • The item is unused;
  • It remains in its original condition;
  • It is returned with all original packaging where reasonably possible.

Unless the item is faulty, damaged or supplied in error, customers are responsible for the cost of return postage.

Original delivery charges are non-refundable unless required by applicable law.

Refunds will be processed once the returned item has been received and inspected.

Non-Returnable Physical Products

The following items cannot be returned unless they are faulty, damaged or supplied incorrectly:

  • Personalised or dedicated signed books;
  • Custom-made or personalised merchandise;
  • Limited edition products that have been altered after delivery;
  • Products showing signs of use, wear or damage after delivery.

Collectable & Signed Editions

Many of our books are individually hand-signed, dedicated or specially finished in small quantities.

As a result, minor variations between copies are a natural part of the production process and contribute to the unique character of collectable editions.

The following are not considered manufacturing defects:

  • Natural variation in handwritten signatures or dedications;
  • Slight differences in sprayed edges, foiling or other handcrafted finishes;
  • Minor variations in print alignment, colour or finishing that fall within normal publishing industry tolerances.

These natural variations do not affect the quality or usability of the product and are therefore not grounds for a return or refund.

If your item arrives damaged, defective or materially different from its description, please contact us in accordance with this policy and we will be happy to assist.

Digital Products

Digital products include, but are not limited to:

  • eBooks;
  • Downloadable bonus content;
  • Digital artwork;
  • Printable materials;
  • Exclusive reader content; and
  • Any other downloadable digital files.

Due to the nature of digital products, all digital sales are final.

Once a digital product has been downloaded, delivered or access has been granted, refunds cannot normally be provided.

UK & EU Consumer Notice

Where applicable under UK or EU consumer law, by purchasing digital content that is made available immediately after purchase, you expressly request immediate performance of the contract and acknowledge that you lose your statutory right to cancel once the download or access begins.

Technical Issues

If you experience difficulty downloading or accessing a digital purchase, please contact us.

Where a digital file is corrupted, incomplete or cannot be accessed due to an error on our part, we will make reasonable efforts to:

  • Provide a replacement file;
  • Restore access; or
  • Offer another appropriate solution.

Pre-Orders

Pre-orders for physical or digital products may be cancelled at any time before the item has been dispatched or delivered.

Once a physical product has been shipped or a digital product has been delivered or made available for download, this Returns & Refunds Policy applies.

Lost or Delayed Shipments

Delivery estimates are provided in good faith but cannot be guaranteed.

If your order has not arrived within a reasonable period, please contact us so we can investigate with the relevant delivery provider.

Replacement or refund decisions will be made after considering the circumstances of each case, including any available tracking information.

Refused Deliveries

If an order is refused by the customer or returned because an incorrect delivery address was provided at checkout, we reserve the right to deduct any shipping costs or charges incurred before issuing any applicable refund.

International Orders

Customers are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, VAT, handling fees or other charges imposed by their country’s customs or tax authorities.

These charges are outside our control and are not refundable.
